About Us

Burlington is a small harbour community in the Baie Verte peninsula of Newfoundland. It has existed for over 200 years, and today is the quiet, picturesque home of about 400 residents. Burlington welcomes many visitors every year, and has lovely scenery.

TownofBurlington.ca is the official website of Burlington, NL. It is operated by volunteers at the local CAP Site, and contributed to by the town council, recreation committee, volunteer fire hall, and other residents. Our intention is to provide an up-to-date news source for residents and visitors, and information about local services and organizations. Any events and news-worthy stories from the community will appear on this site.

This website also hosts an online community, complete with photo gallery, "Buy & Sell" marketplace, and a forum. As well as a means to supply more information and media to site users, these sections also allows users to contribute to the site themselves. Anyone can share photos, post or browse advertisements, or participate in the discussion forum.

Enjoy the town of Burlington, and please take advantage of townofburlington.ca.

Where We Are

Burlington is located in the central area of Newfoundland, the easternmost province of Canada. Like most communities in Newfoundland, it is situated next to the water, an "outport community" as termed by Newfoundlanders. This is, like any such community, due to the way of life which supported Burlington for most of its history, which is almost entirely built around the sea. As mentioned above, Burlington is located in the Baie Verte penisula, which is in the center of Newfoundland, along its northern side. It is, in many ways, typical of outport communities, but also has a unique history and distinct character today. To reach Burlington from the Trans Canada Highway near the center of Newfoundland, exit onto highway 410, which heads toward Baie Verte. Turning off highway 410 onto highway 413, and after about 23km, you'll reach Burlington.
