The Burlington Photo Gallery is now up and running. Just click Photos on the main menu. It includes two major sections, Scenery and Events, and in each section there are various sets of photos. For instance, under "Events & Holidays" there is now a "Burlington Day 2008" album. Likewise, when events occur in the future, like Halloween or more Burlington Days, new albums will be added in the appropriate category.
Galleries are shown with a random picture as their menu image.
To make the gallery as active and interesting as possible, all registered users will be able to add photos. It's as easy as navigating to the album you're interested in. Once there, on the bottom of the screen you'll notice a little section devoted to uploading photos. Just select the file from your computer, add a title and description, and hit "Start Upload."
The upload time depends on your connection speed and the size of your photo. We recommend resolutions from 640 x 480 to 1028 x 760, for both picture quality and upload speed. However, if you have a fast connection, or a very slow one, you may use larger or smaller image files if you like.
We also recommend that you add your name in the description, so that users will know who took the photo. Keep in mind that all photos submitted take on creative commons licensing (free to distribute and modify, with attribution), and that photos are available for download (via the download button on each photo) to anyone viewing the gallery. Photos deemed inappropriate or miscateogorized will be moved or deleted as necessary.
If there is any way in which the gallery may be improved (i.e. adding albums), feel free to email us and let us know, or post in the forum. We hope that this online photo gallery will be interesting, and encourage everyone to add photos.
Tip: If a slideshow is running, hold the mouse pointer over the photo to pause. (Useful for dial-up users)
